Thanks again for all this info. Just to be perfectly clear so that I don't screw something up, my interpretation of your above description of pin identification is that in the picture below, 1=A, 2=B, 3=C, 4=D.

BTW, I'm referring to the red numbers I added to the photo, NOT the ones molded into the plastic of the housing. I didn't even realize those were visible in the photo when I was photoshopping the red numbers onto the picture. And of course now that I can see them wouldn't you know that they'd end up backward from the way I numbered the pins! Murphy strikes again. Is my numbering correct? Or am I looking at it backwards? Thanks.

Your red numbering is correct based on my description of the wiring.
Never noticed the other numbers down in there.
Oh well.

Default different connection approach

Well, thanks to this great info I was able to get my TPMS trained to the car just a little while ago. However, I thought I'd share that I took a different approach to getting my new style receiver connected to the car than described above. I'm not advocating this way is better- in fact it's most definitely more work. My main reason for going a different route was not wanting to permanently modify the wiring harness in the car. Even if I could have removed the connector sockets from the plastic harness I figured having to squich them down to fit the smaller pins of the new style RFA would make it difficult to ever use them on the original receiver, if for any reason I'd need to.

So, I chose to find some pins that would plug into my existing harness. For this I used pins from an old computer keyboard plug. The pins were round but once I hit them on the grinder wheel for just a second on each side they're sort of flat and fit just fine into the car's harness. I then soldered these pins to some jumper wires, and then soldered the wires to the back side of the connector on the new receiver.

To get the 3 jumper wires into the receiver's plastic housing I did have to drill a hole in the back of the plastic. I put heat shrink on everything to make sure I didn't get any shorting problems.

And I will probably wrap the connector and pins in black tape so as to make sure that the pins stay inserted into the harness.

It's gonna be nice to have the TPMS system working and not have to hit reset every time I get in the car!!

Cheers!

That is such a long story. Steve said all that in 2 (1/2) sentences.

I bought a 4 pin flat weather pack connector off the auction site for 5.00 and put new connectors on the box and car. Works great and I dont worry about it shorting out

I just did some research and the part number for the pigtail for the receiver is 12102635. It is the connector and the wires.

To anyone who has upgraded their receiver box to the new 01-04 style, I might be interested in buying your 97-00 style receiver box. It needs to be free of defects, and the wires in a condition that I can resolder them if needed.

Please PM me!!!
