Default QUESTION for you MOTOR HEADS!!!

ok. i have a 97 m6 coupe with 90k miles and i am looking at putting a LG long tube header system without cats.

I have a aftermarket intake, (goes from one pipe and splits into two with airfilters on each end, like a double snorkel)

i have 8.5mm spark plug wires,

i have a route 66 exhaust,

i also have electric cutouts

what kind of hp/trq. numbers would i be looking at with/without a tune.

should i run high flow cats.

also any problems i may come across while installing.

thanks guys

Your filter system and mufflers are actually giving about 5 maybe 10 hp total,,not really much to be gained with those! Vararam will give a little better "on road" performance due to an actual ram air effect. Headers w/no tune from what I've read I would estimate about 15-20 hp. Go high flow cats,,no significant gain catless. Even with high flows you will eventually start throwing code without a tune,,from what I've read even long tubes with stock cats usually start throwing codes. Not a header expert,,just read a lot,,and I saw where nobody was stepping up,so I thought I'd try to help!!Oops,,just noticed you are from California,,with your CARB situation you will be confined to shorties with a CARB # attached and stock cats!!

I AGREE! The wires will also give you ZERO HP/TQ improvement!

You can also install a ported TB and a 180 deg thermostat. You can also purchase 1.8 ratio rockers to get a bit more lift. If you want to play a little, remove the intake and do some port matching for a little extra kick.

Once you get as much as your going to add done you need a tune if you install LT Headers to get the most out of your eng.
