performance mods?

First I'll give you a little tip that will save you a lot of time and effort. Seriously.
When it comes to C5 vettes you fall into 2 catagories as far as performance mods.
1. The stuff you can do for a reasonable (I use the term loosely) cost, that will get you around 30 hp. Give or take a little.
Items that fall into this catagory are: cold air mods, re-tune of your computer, hi flow cats, headers. All in all if you do ALL of the above your looking anywhere from $800-$3000 depending on what components you get and if you choose to pay someone to install them. HP= 30-50rwhp depending again on the component and how well the car is tuned.
2. The mods that are going to get you some serious hp but will also cost you some serious chump change. These are the mods that will break you above the 400rwhp barrier and most definitely cause you to spend even more money to get the other components in your car able to handle the new found power you have added on. (for example, clutch, torque tube bushings, brakes, swaybars, transmission, differential).
Items that fall into this category are: superchargers, turbochargers, cam/heads, intake packages, gears, etc. Cost: use your imagination but usually starts off at around $5000 and suddenly people see themselves in over $25,000 in no time at all. All comes down to how fast do you want to go. HP=over 450rwhp typically up to over 1000rwhp.
Bottom line, don't expect to get some huge power increases from doing the small mods from catagory 1. When it comes to HP you are going to pay some $$$$ to get there. Just make sure you have a plan and really think about where you ultimately want to end up with the car. Don't kid yourself either, really put it all down on paper, what your willing to spend, how much time you would like to accomplish things in and then break it down into steps that you can afford to do. Each step will get you closer to your ultimate goal and you won't end up spending money on stuff you don't really need or that you will end up selling cause it can't be used later on as you get closer to your goal. Example: would be pretty pointless if you want to supercharge your vette, but you go out and buy a vararam now cause you can afford the $300 but can't afford the $6500 for the supercharger. Yes you can do what a lot do (me included) and buy the vararam now and hopefully later on sell it to recoupe some of your money. All Iam saying is to have a battle plan first, don't just go out and buy stuff.
Hope this helps.
