Greetings all,
I just came back from the impound yard that my buddies vette is in. Someone else was driving it last night and flipped it twice. They turned off the AH and when they hit second the rear came around. They bounced off some stuff, went off the road and flipped it twice. It finally came to rest on it's side. I remember hearing a rumor that chevy likes to know when a vette is flipped. Is this true, or is it really just a rumor. I figure I'll let them know. I'll post some pics in a bit.

You have no idea how much I agree. The pics are up. I hope people don't feel I'm trying to glorify what happened. Typically, I just think this should be somewhat of a reminder(myself included) of the type of power and damage a car can cause. I don't know if this makes sense, but I hope you understand. The pics speak for themselves. Fortunately, my buddy wasn't in the car, he traded w/ a friend for the use of his truck for the day. Sorry for the slow dl speed, I'm workin on it.

One pic for the forum:
From my understanding of the story, neither of the guys were wearing seat belts. That was their first mistake before any of this happened. The passenger was thrown from the car and actually wasn't hurt too bad. The driver was in very serious condition and is still in the ICU to the best of my knowledge. My buddy doesn't seem to be pissed right now, more concerned about everyone involved. We'll see if that changes once the wounds heal.
Good gosh, you have to keep us posted on the guy in ICU. I hope and pray everything will be okay. Your friend will get sick to his stomach, but only after everyone is 100% alright :yesnod: :blueangel:
Again, the proof of superior engineering is evident in this pix. That guy in ICU would probably walked away if he had worn the belt the engineers designed for him. What a moron......but I hope he gets better just the same.......in time for your buddy to kick his butt :smash:
Did I miss something??......I THOUGHT you said someone borrowed your friends Vette, sounds like that FRIEND then loaned it to someone else??.
Once again, ACTIVE HANDLING...................
Leave it on!!!!!!!!
Where are the seats??.
No belts, I am WAY surprised either survived............. :(
 Wow, things like this are exactly why I don't let anyone borrow my car. I have friends with economy cars and pickup trucks that are always asking to take my Vette for a spin. I never say yes because I know as soon as they are out of my sight they are going to drive it for all it's worth, but they have never driven a powerful car before and don't know how to handle it.
I hope the driver and passenger both recover fully and I will keep them in my prayers. I do think the coupe's roll hoop is why they are even alive today. The passenger compartment is fully intact, so if they had been wearing seatbelts, they probably would have both walked away unharmed.
I think I've read that the air bags won't deploy unless you are wearing your seatbelt. Also, the collision wasn't really frontal, so it might not have tripped the impact sensors anyway.
