Default Pistons for Dummies!

I have a 02 LS1, I broke a ring on #7. I am looking to buy some pistons and am a little confused. I am looking to go 10-20 over bore just in case a sleeve is scared up.

MY question is what bore size do I need and pin diameter?? I will be using the stock rods.

Thanks any help would be great, and if you know of a good place to order some let me know.

Thanks

I have several sets of Mahle LS1340898F04 complete kits. These are forged and grafal coated pistons, with tool steel pins, locks and file fit 3.905 rings. They are standard bore 3.898 with a 1.340 installed pin height. They will use your standard rod. Email me if interested, you will not find a better piston for the $$

3.898 is standard bore. You can readily purchase 3.903, 3.905 and 3.910, but anything larger may require sonic checking of the block. Stock rods are 6.098, piston pin height is 1.340 plus 1/2 of the stock 3.622 stroke, 1.811. Add these together to get 9.249. Deck height averages 9.2425, so this combination is out of the hole about .006. Stock pin diameter is .945

You might consider waiting until your machiniest is done with the block, then order what you need based on his reccomendations. Tons of for sale threads containing mis ordered pistons on LS1tech.

Best of luck to you
