Default build advice...

k well i'm looking to buy another vette, got my eye on 03-04 z06s but i sold my c6 z cuz it was a money pit. i need advice on cam/turbo combo choice (single turbo). heads pistons etc. I want to build it right but like i said the c6 z was costing too much so can i attain 650 rwhp without spendin more than 14-15K? can it be done and if so what parts do you recomend? thank you

I think it'd be fairly easy to achieve those goals, but you'd get better advice over in the FI section.

650 rwhp for $14-15k Not a chance, Even a SC or N2 you wont have any reliability.

Double that minimum

for 14-15 you can buy a create LS7, but will need 3K more for dry sump and other parts to install.

If you think the C6Z was a money pit, what until you BUILD an engine, that will be an even bigger money pit.

Pick two:

1. lots of HP
2. Reliability
3. inexpensive

You cant have all three

I think you could do it but I would not go the turbo route. Get yourself a nice forged 346 and an ECS paxton supercharger. Of course you will have to spend some $$ to upgrade the drive train to handle the extra power.

Go over and browse the FI section. I am sure you will pick up some good ideas.

If you scrounge, and do the mech work yourself, I believe you can achieve your goal within budget, BUT...... As AU etc. said, nobody's gonna have a reliable 650 RWHP Z without spending more money than that on supporting mods.

That's true is you are incapable of doing your own work. If you can do your own work, you could easily do it all: forged LS6, driveline, exhaust for under $20K.

and how many engine builds does it take to be successful and not have engine failure?

a good engine builder could do this for under 20, and I agree. But for the majority of us. We pay you guys to build our engines.

I say no way to 650 reliable rwhp for 14-15k. But I guess that depends on your definition of reliable.
