I found that you can get a replacement headlight gear as a "HELP!" item as p/n 42400. This is a gear manufactured or supplied by Dorman Products. You should be able to find it at an automotive parts retailer near you for about $15.

Did you put it in yet?? How long does the nylon last?
I have to do mine, and it looks like a pain in the A$$, and looks like it will take a couple of hours to do....(and its cold now....)
I think I'd rather put the brass one in, so I don't have to do it again.
ANy place in Ontario or Canada we can buy them? (that will save on duties etc...)

With 151K+ miles, my original factory nylon gears are still in mine and working fine. Guess all that hard work and clean livin' is paying off.
FWIW, I did buy a brass replacement just to have on hand. Hey you never know, right? I also lube all the linkage points about once a year too. Maybe that helps in the longveity department.
