Default Just ordered Fast 92...MAF question

I just ordered a FAST 92/90 combo and was wondering if the stock MAF will be fine or will it rob me of power? Something just doesn't sit right with having a 90mm opening at the throttle body but only a 78 or 80 whatever it is opening at the inlet....but then again I am no engineer.

Thanks

From what I've read in tech articles, the MAF (85) on the Z is not a big impediment. Of course, looking at your extensive mods, maybe a SD tune would be in order, in which you eliminate the MAF, I believe. NICE CAR, BTW.

I have been debating on SD for awhile. It was SD tuned before when I had a F1C on it and this is my first time playing around with a MAF with serious power.

I see that you're in KCMO as well. Where do you get work done on your car? I do as much as I can myself but a clutch and gears just isn't in the cards right now.

As for the MAF, I just put a Ported FAST 90/90 setup on my '98 that came with a 78mm MAF stock. I swapped it out for an 85mm MAF from a newer model. No dyno results, so I can't say if it helped for sure, but it feels a bit stronger. If you really want to be sure you're not choking the motor, you can pick up a 100mm MAF from Texas Speed.

Actually I am overseas in Kuwait right now. Getting my car ready to ship back home. I will be back in KC in January. Not sure where to go there either. I have been told to go to MC Racing but not sure if they are good or not.

When you did the 85mm MAF was the connector the same?

Well I think I found my solution...lol...it's called search I didn't know that all 2002 and up models came with 85mm MAFs. I thought it was smaller than that. I guess I can live with a 5mm difference. I read somewhere that the MAF outflows the TB anyway. Not sure how true that is because I am by no means an engineer.

No it's back to N/A. Got tired of all the problems with the F1C setup it was just overkill in everyway. I'm having more fun with the N/A power now. Shooting for a solid 480 to 500 now.

A N/A 408 is still a monster. 500rwhp should be a breeze with the right H/C package. Good luck and keep us posted.

Well I am struggling because of my cam choice. I have the GT11 in it now which is pretty small but hoping my compression helps me out some. I have another cam sitting aside which is pretty big but I really like the way the GT11 drives and feels so I am going to make it work. Heads are good to go though
