Default Procharge or Not

Just picked up a procharger D1-sc stage II. If I want to put it on I have to swap my cam for another cam, sell my head 11:5.1, and buy a set of heads and send them out for a lower compression 9:7.1, then put the Procharger on. What do you think? Any info will help.

What heads/cam do you have now. What's your current compression ratio?

I don't believe you'll be able to get to a 9.7:1 CR without changing the connecting rods. Stock heads with stock gaskets (about a thick as you can go) get you 10.5:1.

The other question I have to ask is why?
There are plenty of people running superchargers with bigger cams (as long as the LSA isn't too small) and there are plenty who run with stock or even higher CR.

Unless you're going to forge the bottom end, 550-600rwhp is about the limit. You can get that on minimal boost. Alky injection would probably be a must for the higher compression ratios.

You can always pick up some 317 heads to lower your compresion. What are your cam specs? I'm going to be running my G5X3 112 lsa cam with my F1C build this winter (N/A cams not working well with F/I is a myth). I would also run Meth for safety i.e. cooler IAT's and prevents detonation...

You should stop in the F/I section.....Lots of guys over there running 550rwhp-600rwhp+ with stock bottom-ends. A lot of it has to do with the tune. Don't get too greedy and it should last. The beauty of the D1SC is that if later you want to go forged, 700rwhp+ is a breeze.

Congrats on your purchase!

The cam you have will be fine in a boosted application. There is a guy I know that is making over 600rwhp with a MTI X1 cam and it's only slightly bigger ( 230/227 .591/.571 ) then your 007 cam from speed inc. Swap the heads to drop the compression and add an Alky kit for safety and you should be good to go. Oh, and you probably won't want that SLP underdrive pulley on there as well.

As long as you go with a big pulley on the head unit and get a nice size crank pulley you should be able to drop the boost down quite a bit and then run it with the compression you have and the cam you have. I would say you could probably safely run 7 psi on a good tune and make power with minimal effort that way. When I had my D1 I was running 650 rwhp on stock bottom end and stock rod bolts and never grenaded it. But then again my tune was SPOT on!
