I have a 1998 I am dropping in a LS2 stroker with all forged internals with medium Lunati Cam L92 heads and L78 intake, 42 lb injectors, with long tube headers. With this power I have a stock rear end assembly with 2.73 Auto. I was wondering what I need to upgrade my rear end?
I was thinking 3.73 gears with 3000 stall convertor, do I need to do anything to my transmission, any information will help thanks
so the stock tranny andc 2.73 differntial will hold that power with just upgrading my output shafts?
Doubtful. If you are going to crank up the HP/TQ, then you have to put it to the ground. If you want to drag race, or just simply be able to hammer it when you want without worrying, then a driveline upgrade is necessary. Lot of guys happy with their RPM auto's, and a RPM or DTE differential is a safe bet as well. I would deep six the 2.73 gear, unless you are going for a land speed record
How much can my stock tranny take, can I just upgrade the diff to a DTE 3.73 and add a 2800 stall, or do I need to go deeper than that?
Why not give RPM transmissions a call? The can answer all your questions concerning your driveline, and tell you exactly what you need based on your horsepower, and how you intend to drive the car.

^^I would contact Rodney at RPM and talk with him. Tell him what your plans are and I am sure he will give you great advice.
You should definitely consider a DTE brace. I'm running an RPM Diff w/3:73's and a 3600 stall ans DTE brace. I would call RPM as stated above. If you do a search, you will notice most of the high HP cars here run an RPM tranny. They build a sick differential as well
