Default no cats on TI catback

i have a regular c5 with just a zo6 ti catback i wanna make my car louder for super cheap that means hollowing cats or removing them my question is would i lose any power if i remove both cats i know its been proven that some gain 5hp by removing the pre-cat but what about both????

i dont wanna go through the hassle of finding a shop that will weld ti so i think this is easier and cheaper. the only thing im worried about is since it will throw a code i wonder if that will throw off the mixtures resulting in worse performance?

drill holes in your exhaust all over the place.

You could pry trade them even for a louder set of catbacks. I think SLP loudmouths are pretty cheap and loud.

you will get codes, and will not pass an emissions test. you won't notice 5hp.

being cheap and having a vette dont mix. save up and do it the right way...removing cats and getting the car tuned so it doesnt throw codes is one option, 2nd i think would be getting a used catback and calling it a day (no tune)

There are probably better ways to make the car louder but the power difference will be almost nonexistent.

yes there are tons of other ways to make car louder i.e. catback, headers, real mid pipe, but they all take more money than i have available right now im a full time college student with two jobs and i love my car wouldnt take anything else so for now ALL I WANTED TO KNOW..... is removing the cats, all 4 of them gonna cause any performance problems or bad mixtures that i should know of... Thanks to all from trying to steer me away from being cheap i would normally do the same which is exactly why i havent purchased tsp headers or ebay headers because i like quality product but hey this is almost free no biggie so can someone just gimme a straight anwser thanks!!!

You can usually trade your Ti's for an aftermarket straight up. I traded my Ti's for GHL stingers. No added cost and a louder car and no worries about having to guy cats or tune out codes.

with out a tune it will run worse, the ecm will not be able to compensatethe lack of the cats.

Dude, Why don't you just try hollowing out ALL your cats and see what happens? If you don't like the result, I am sure you will be able to find a another OEM set from someone who has swapped them out for LT's/x-pipe.

Or you could call your local Vette tuner. I'm sure they will have a few sets just collecting dust in their shop. Hell, if you were local I'd let you have mine.

Without cats you would have to disable the rear 02's via tuning or simulators. You may gain hp at the very top which isn't noticeable but you'll probably notice the loss in low rpm torque without a re-tune.

The front and rear 02's don't interact together. The rear 02 do not do ANYTHING but monitoring to see if the cats are working efficiently.

Removing the cats will turn the SES light on because the rear 02's will sense that the cats aren't working but it will have ZERO effect on the cars performance. Go for it.
