Default C5 Trans converter and diff setup

I have a bored over ls2 stroker with a medium cam in it in my 98 C5 auto I am putting in and I was wodering if this was a good setup to back it up. Any feedback would be great

RPM Transmission
2800 Stall Vigilante Converter
DTE Stage 3 Performer Street Max Rear diff with 3.73's
and I have read to put the DTE Cage in as well.

Just wondering if that was a good setup for me?

I will be driving it on the street mostly but I want the capability to take it to the track whenever I want

Also what are the best type of wheels tires combo if I want to get a set of slicks???

Thanks for your help

hard to answer that fully without knowing what your HP/TQ numbers are.

I think if you plan on doing much highway driving 3:42s would be a better gear, since you state some drag racing and not a lot.

I agree---for the street 3.42's would be my choice--on my hds/cam '98--I went from 72 MPH at 2000 RPM (with my 3.15's) to 68 MPH at 2000 RPM with the 3.42's---so its still mild and not loud and revving high on a daily cruise--3.73's would have you around 64 MPH at 2000 but at 70 MPH you'd be revving up around 2400 ? may be a bit noisy for a DD.
Also i went with a 2600 stall--it is great for a DD but if i had to do it over again--i would go with a 3000--still mild enough for the street but really wakes them up---

3000 stall---3.42 gears---my choice----( for a DD and a weekend occasional drag racer)

Just a rough guess since I own a 05 GTO but I figure your around 500 lbft of torque.
That being said my C5 is in that area also and I went with a Vig. 2600 stall converter and 3.42 gears.
I would save some money and just get a stock ZO6 diff and call it a day, with my setup in the C5 it will light the tires from a 70 roll so going bigger on the gear is a waste of money.
With the auto you will never hurt the diff so why spend more then you need to?JMHO

Hi Nick, welcome to the Forum. First, just a point of order, NOT A BIG DEAL, but just so that one of our resident 4th grade teachers doesn,t jump on you for doing something wrong. If you have a question of your own that we might be able to help you with you should start you own tread rather than ask it as part someone else's tread. You can do this very easily by clicking the " tread"/ tread starter" in the Tech Forum header. then everyone who has any knowledge that might help you will be immediatly attracted to your post.

as far as your original question : no, 5200 rpm is no big deal. your car has a "built in" rev limiter that should prevent your damaging the egine due to over reving. the rev limiter is USUALLY set, internally, to somewhere around 6000 -6200 rpm.if you should try to rev the engine beyond what the rev limiter is set at the computer will, automatically, reduce the fuel flowing into the engine to prevent an over rev.
