Default New Engine Needed..mine looks bad now..

LS1, stage 3 H/C on stock bottom. LS6 intake, Vararam, Borla Stinger, etc..
82,300 miles.
R.I.P. It was a sweet runner. It beat alot of Z06's...!
Gonna take the winter to decide if I just put a stock ls1 back in and sell it..Or go LS6 modified.

Oil pan and left side of block have fist sized holes.
Block cracked from oil pan up to top where head bolts on.
Can you regrind this head.? LOL

Piston and lifters

Darn that stinks, bad day but it sounds like you have a plan of action for bigger and better. Good luck

Default Damn, sucks to see that.

With the money you'd spend on a stock (even a cheapskate budget find) and the install effort.... considering what you'd end up getting for it when it's sold, it would be foolish to dump the car like that.

You might as well let it sit, get a plan together, maybe a stock crank with forged pistons/rods.... (ARP rod bolts )

You don't have to go "full kill" on your build...

Yep..the valve spring was broken. Man it made ONE HECK OF some noise when the engine went. First time I ever blew a motor.

I had it tuned in Calif 4 months ago before moving to Utah. It was running like a top, then developed a very slight knocking sound. Only thing i can compare it to.. was like a lifter or rocker knock. Was driving it to the shop when this happened.

I did the same thing to my '68 Mustang, back in '78!

I was pissed at my girlfrind, and was running a little too hard. I floated a valve, which shattered a piston, and cracked the block.

I've been there... no fun.

Good luck on your rebuild.

When I did mine, I was only 18, so I went to a junkyard and bought a long block.

Stock LS6 or LS2. No mods if you track your car.

Well oil cooler, accu-sump, trans cooler and bigger radiator but that is it

Man, those pics truly made my gut knot up.......dude, I certainly feel for you, and hope you can bring the car back to life, better than before!

I just programmed my 04 with a Diablo Sport Programmer, and have enjoyed the increased "feel" for the past 4 days.....until I saw these pics, which make me want to de-program ASAP, just to be on the safe side!.....

Good luck man, and hope things work out.....
