Default Main cap torque questions/issues...

Ok guys, bear with me here...My buddy and I are in the process of reassembling his LS1 and we just realized we over-torqued the main cap bolts/studs. We figured out after the fact that we went 25 degrees over GM spec on the outside bolts and 40 degrees over on the inside bolts. All bolts are brand new OEM bolts from the dealer. Don't ask how we got these funky #'s...our math was just all screwed up basically.

The question now is what to do? Loosen them and start at 15 lb ft again?? Buy new bolts and start over?? Leave them alone??

Thanks for any help with the options we have.
Mark

How many beer breaks?....you mean 15 lb ft...right?

I don't see any warnings in the service manual about using new M10 bolts(you do have to use new M8 side bolts though), but who knows what you did to them by over torquing. If it were me, I'd be buying new bolts....but that's just me..

BUY NEW BOLTS

There not that expensive and the downside consequences arent remotely worth the cost savings. You will want to kill yourself if you loose an engine trying to save $50 or $100

You already knew the right thing to do....just needed to see it in print right?.....LOL

Good luck with the rest of the build
