I need a good Corvette mechanic in the San Francisco Bay area. I've been taking it to my local mechanic but he has not been able to figure out the missing and sputtering problem with my car. It mostly sputters at acceleration until I reach the speed of 80 MPH . Don't need tickets....
Any Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx,
Tina

I'll just throw this out there for ya, I had a slight occasional miss.Everyone said to do plugs and wires. Also clean the throttle body out as these LS1's love to dirty up the TB.
I pulled my fuel rail covers and low and behold I had a plug wire halfway off the coil pack.I found it by letting the car idle and jiggling all the plug wires top and bottom along with the wires to the fuel injectors to see if I could make it miss.

I would not recommend that method, exspecialy if you had a pace maker
Bad plug wires happen and on a '98, they are due if they are still the originals. Secondly, check the ground wires on the rear of the driver's side head and make sure they are still tight. Have you pulled the codes yet?
Pull codes then replace the plugs and wires and re-examine the problem. Could be fuel injector harness rubbing at the back of the driver side intake on the bracket, cats getting clogged up (doubtful on that one, but possible), fuel pump and filter (test fuel pressure while under load ). Many of us are do-it-yourselfers. Plugs and wires isn't too much of a task on these cars.
