I would like to know how far to loosen cradel nuts.It looks like about 3/8 threads showing below nut ,I suppose you could go further but at what point would threads strip.Also how far up can you push diff.

I would loosen the nuts so they still have full thread contact. The differential can then be pushed up gently to give enough clearance to maneuver into place.
