My driver side headlamp grinds when I turn my headlights off. The motor works but it seems like the motor doesnt know when to turn off. It grinds for 5 seconds after the lamp goes down then stops. Does anyone know what part should be replaced and how hard is it to install? Thanks, Dan

Okay...I have a 2000 coupe, and had the same problem last summer...it was under warranty, so I took it to the dealer. If your Vette is out of warranty, there might be a TSB on this problem...it's fairly common from what I've heard, and always seems to be on the driver's side...I don't know why, but it is. The actuator and motor assembly needs to be replaced.
Hi all,
I posted this same problem last week and was told by C5 tech that the gears inside the motor are stripped and I need to replace the motor. I found one at gmpartsdirect for $105, I think it was. It is a very annoying sound, huh! I'm sure it's a plastic gear wheel (or wheels) inside there and they just wear out and break. I wonder if there's any way to get inside the motor and replace the gears with metal one's?
