ok guys( and gals) one more time, i have a 99 AUTO coup, I get that message ,steering wheel is NOT lock, and has not been lock sense i have own the car. move the car and fuel is shut off, i assume the recall has been done because the steering wheel turns. i have pull fueses( 23, and 25) disconnected battery, clean key chip, check battery voltage, etc,etc,etc. i supect the k-harness ( part of the recall right?) (1) where is the harness located ? (2) could i have a clb installed also?(3) if harness is defective will taking it out of the circuit solve the problem?. though about having the pcm flash to raise the max. fuel cutoff speed, but decided against it cause i want the problem fix correctly, beside i would still get the service column lock message,one more thing, if harness is bad and clb is not installed should i installed, ok that it, i am open to any and all feedback ,thanks

Remove the knee bolster, it's the panel below the steering column. You can find instructions on how to remove if you search. The GM recall installed Harness K will be tucked up under the dash, probably zip tied to the steering column or close to it. It is square relay with wires coming out. Simply remove the bad relay/Harness K, and hook the wiring back up direct, the way it was originally from the factory, before the GM recall, and I'll bet you can start and drive your car. Then sit down and order a CLB from Thunder Racing or Corvettes of Houston, and install it when you get it, and you'll never have to think about this problem again............At least that's what I did, when I had the exact same thing happen to my '00 coupe 2/1/2 years ago.
