I am about to order the HIDs for my wife's car for Christmas. My problem is deciding between the 5000 and 6000. It may not be enough to be relevant, but the 5000 is brighter at 3200lums than the 2800lum 6000; But I just can't help but think the slight blue tint of the 6000 is
I've never seen anything but photos, so I have to just trust feedback from those who have them.
I have 6000K fog lamps and they are great. I ordered them on this site from JW Motoring. They are very bright, almost to the point you don't need headlamps on.
If i was going to get HID Lows beams i would get the 6000K, They are not really that Blue to the point they look purple. They are just about right.
I bought my wife HID's for her C5 because she's always had trouble seeing at night and started driving less at night because of it. I bought her the 5300K bulbs with the ACA kit because they have the highest lumen output and so give the best performance which was the whole point of the swap. I think they look great as well in terms of the color of the bulbs. The highbeam halogens are very yellow in comparison as you can see below. I have a second kit ready to go on my C5 as a winter project.
Since installing these, she is much more confident driving at night - even in bad weather as she recently had to.
I went from 6000Ks to 4300Ks on my daily driver and the improvement in light is noticeable. Most (if not all) OEM HIDs are 4300K, and with good reason.
Assuming you're the OEM using reflector housing, I"d go with 6000k. I had 5000k for my first setup int he OEM housings and the super white made horrible glare especially off concrete, and any other light color surface. 6000K has just enough blue in it to tone it down without significantly affecting output.
Note: the cameras i used were different...both suck for night shots.
my 5000K:
My 6000K (of course they're in projectors so it's not a true comparison)
I have the kit from Davis and Dave of Corvette Motorsports installed in YV's 02... I have the ACA type in my 99 and paid way more. You can't beat the service from Davis and Dave so if that means anything to you.....

That's something I hadn't heard before. I figured the original reflectors would be a limiting factor, but wasn't sure how much.
Like I said, I want LOTS of light, but that slight blue tint is just COOL

That's the issue my wife is having as well; She is actually hesitant to drive her car at night.
By the way; those are some of the best shots of before and after I've seen so far!
