Default Gmpartsdirect What customer Service

I will never buy another part from this vendor again.... 2 weeks to ship head gasket/bolt kit and it arrived today and What do ya know only one head gasket!!!!!! So after sending 3 emails to customer service with no replies I found that the shipping box had their # on it .
So I called, after 20 minutes on hold a guy answers and as soon as I said I had placed an internet order he wouldn't talk to me saying policy is I have to contact through customer service via e-mail!!! So now i will dispute the charge on my credit card and then they can contact me through e-mail.... Do yourself a favor and DO NOT ORDER parts from these guys.. There are other forum vendors that will actually talk to you Like Gene Culley..

That is one reason I never order from GMpartsdirect.

Gene always checks the order and if there is an issue contacts you prior to shipping. Bob at Fitchner's is wonderful as well.

I hope I'm not goint to have the same issue. I just ordered a bunch of stuff from them. I tried calling them about the head gaskets but no one answered and I never heard anything back about my email so I ordered the gaskets elseware but I did order a bunch of other stuff for my h/c/i build. The only thing I'm dissapointed about so far is the ls2 lifter trays are on back order and I can't find out how long I'm going to have to wait. I hope you get everything worked out.

I've only bought a few items from Gene and Parts House but I was impressed enough that I'll buy from him again.

GMPARTSHOUSE only.

Last year I ordered a set of T1 bars and UPS screwed up the shipment. Gene was willing to personally buy another set to get them to me. I told him I wasn't in a hurry but he wouldn't hear of it. UPS did find them but this speaks volumes to his customer service.

I don't normally slurp the vendors but I recently ordered 3 parts from Gene and he called to tell me that I probably ordered 2 incorrect parts (which I did). Would gmpartsdirect have done the same?

I'm sure glad i read this thread. I had a terrible experience with gm parts direct customer service also, but I had confused it with gm parts house and Gene. Thanks for the clarification, I'm glad to know I can buy from GM parts house with confidence.

Yup.... Gene took great care of me the one time I placed an order... awesome service!

Then over the past few weeks, I've found Bob at Fichtner to be every bit as helpful.

GM Parts Direct... in my experience, I've never ordered from them because while their prices are a bit lower... their shipping is always higher to the point that Gene or Bob end up cheaper anyway.

GM Parts Direct is not affiliated with General Motors itself. It is a mail order parts department division of a Chevy dealer somewhere in North Carolina. Over the years I've read several posts with unhappy customers of Parts Direct. On the other hand, everyone is always completely happy with Gene Culley's service at GM Parts House.

I'm curious, was there a significant savings with GM parts direct as opposed to GMpartshouse?

I doubt it, since gene has a price matching policy. I've bought a couple things from him at gmpartshouse and each transaction has been excellent... great communication, quick shipment and just great overall service. Gene is a guy who knows how to run a business with the customer in mind, and that's why he's so well respected on here.

GMParts direct is a place called Flow Chevrolet.

If you do a random search on parts such as I did for my 1999 coupe, on a water pump, alternator, timing cover gasket, power steering hose, front seal ……you find a significant price difference where GMParts Direct is much less.

I never had a problem with them, ordered many parts for both of my C4s and C5s,....... but I also never called GM Parts House to ask if they can match a price. I would just like to see the best price advertised on the website.

I have used Gene in the past and had great luck with him. I also like Scroggin as well. I recently had a shipment show up from them damaged, and they have been very helpful in correcting it. I will say one thing about ordering parts. The best deal I tend to have is through my local chevy dealership that sponsors the local corvette club. They give us great deals, and maybe you have a club or dealership that does the same in your area.

and their shipping will eat up any possible savings...

I challenge you get get a part quote from them and Gene Culley and tell me who is less in the end.

their shipping policy alone is reason enough not to order from them...their prices look good until you figure out the shipping charges..

Isn't GMPARTSDIRECT still a vendor here?

I have my own horror story about ordering from them. I'd never do it again unless they were the only source of a discontinued GM part and I'm in absolutely no hurry to receive it, nor care that they respond to e-mails only and double charge for the shipping...
