A screw driver worked for me but I later went with nylon ends. I would suggest a set of those if you ever want to go back to stock cause once you get the screen out it isn't going back in
I just did it last weekend while installing my Vortex Rammer. Figured while I was there, ya know!
Piece of cake. Before reading some of the input on this forum, I didn't know that the front of the airbox was just popped on to some rubber grommets up front. Bascially, just unhook the black corragated hose from the throttle body, unhook the two electrical cables, pop off the whole assembly from the rubber mounts on top of the radiator, go around front, slip your hands between the front of the car and the stock air box, and pop the box away from the front of the car.
Remove the whole assembly from the car, pry off the clamp that connects the MAF sensor to the airbox, seperate the two, and you're looking at the screen.
I just used a pocket screwdriver to start prying the screen away from the housing. Just pried about an inch, and then you can grab it and pull it out.
Just don't hit the wires behind the screen. I stuck a flashlight in from the other end while I was doing it, just so I knew I wasn't getting in trouble.
I know that's a long answer for a simple task, but I wished I had a more detailed description when I started, just so I wouldn't screw something up.
I have a habit of doing that!
I took mine out a month or so ago, and I noticed a little power increase. I started with a small screwdriver, but a thin knife would probably be the best. You have to crush the outer edges in a bit to let it come out. Like was said, don't touch the small wires on the MAF. :seeya
