Default X-pipe information please ?

I'am ready to order a x-pipe for my 01 Z06 and need a little information please ? I do not want to retain my cats and want a quality product . I have stock exhaust manifolds and a Billy Boat Bullet exhaust . Any purchase suggestions /information would be greatly appreciated . Are these a bolt on type install or am I missing something . Thank you in advance Ashley

Ashley, Yes, there is a Bassani pipe that will do what you want.
Your car has a "midpipe", about 4 feet long, that bolts to the manifolds in the front, and to the over-the-axle pipes in the rear, just ahead of the rear axle. The vast majority of x-pipes are attached to your cut-off midpipe behind the cats. The x-pipe then bolts to the flanges of the muffler system just ahead of the rear axle.
However, the Bassani off-road x-pipe does just the opposite. You cut off the front half of your midpipe, including the cats, and attach the Bassani off-road X-pipe to the manifolds and the remainder of your midpipe.

I ran one for awhile, and made approx 10 HP at peak, but lost approx 10ft-lbs in the mid-range. It also smelled horrible. Also, you will need to turn off your rear O2 sensors via programming, or use some O2 "sims".
But the pipe itself is very good quality, stainless and good fit.

Do a search in the vendor section, you will find the Bassani. It is erroneously called a "full length" pipe, but it's not. you must use part of your midpipe, or buy a rear x-pipe to mate up with it.

Thank you for your reply , I think that I'm now going with the full system headers and x-pipe due to the cost of the system that you mentioned . Do you or anyone else have any experience with the Texas Speed header system that sells for 749.95 ? I spoke with them yesterday and they said that they are making changes to the design and will not be ready till middle of December . Thank you in advance ! Ashley

Whatever you get - get it in 304 stainless steel for the exhaust system and 304 or ceramic coated for the headers.
