does anyone on here have aftermarket xm radio?
I have a 2000 hardtop and would like to install it. If you have one what brand is it and how difficult was it to install?
i have xm in mine. my installer installed a coupler that connected the cd changer output in the back to become the output for tne xm pin jack. i have a portable xm2go and the power can also be used for my zune. the cd changer becomes inactive using this method. i use cig lighter power in the form of a jack to the xm and i hang the xm from a vent mount. since it is portable i needed the vent mount and cig lighter power hook up. you may try the audio form to get a better install tip especially if it is to be permanent with concealed wires. i have read on this forum about using a relay so you might be able to do a satellite radio or xm search on this site as well. good luck.
I had a Sirius XM installed in my Mustang last week. Mickey Shore did a fantastic install. Antanna next to regular antanna base. They wired the radio kit into the radio. No wires showing and it works great
i travel a lot so i have problems with using an fm band (hooked into radio antenna cable). as you travel you have to find an unused band which is a real pain. if you can go the pin jack/aux route for a good connection and no worries about a clear band available. same problem with fm transmitter type. works good in one location but band may not be available in another area. again, my wires are visible because i have a portable xm which works on my two other cars and boat. no sense limiting radio to one vehicle. visible wires are minimal and flexibility is well worth the visible wires for power and jack pigtail . whatever turns your crank!
