Default what the heck!

so I replace the oil pressure sending unit. within 25 miles of driving afterwards it went bad and my oil pressure is all over the place from o pounds to 130 pounds! what the heck are these parts this big of a piece!? is there a way to keep it from going bad? or at least prolong it.

Did you read the sticky "oil pressure sender relocate"? There seems to be a lot of failures of replacements. There are some other suggestions there about other senders and tightening torques.

Two most important things to remember is 1) to not over-torque, in fact I'd set wrench under by 1 or 2 ft. lbs. and 2) clean electrical connection of all oil........connection should be clean and dry

Welcome to the wonderful world of GM quality parts.
Did you buy the GM part, or aftermarket?
