Default HRE Chrome Wheels Peeling

Fellow members. Shelled out quite a bit of money about 4 years ago for chrome HRE 545R's, and they are going back to HRE for the second time due to peeling chrome, and leaky wheels. Please share any similar experiences . I am curious to know how many people out there with chrome problems on top shelf brand wheels. This is beyond expensive and a PITA.

Is it chrome peeling or clearcoat? I have HRE's and they are clearcoated aluminum not chrome. Mine have some clearcoat peeling but I bought them used so I didn't expect them to be perfect and they were priced accordingly. My brother works for a company that reconditions wheels and I asked him about stripping and reclearing mine. He said that the wheel clearcoat that is really durable has a Yellowish tint to it and doesn't look very good. Fikse wheels are just polished aluminum which I like better because you can just re-polish them if you get a nick in one.

Maybe next time you go to get them refinished talk to Andy with Modular Concept. I'm sure they'll hook you up. I'm planning on sending my HRE's to them at some point to get refinished.
