Default MAF deletion

Are there any real pros or cons to deleting the MAF. I was gonna do it, but didn't want to run into any problems...

The main reason we remove the MAF is to go to the 2 BAR MAP sensor on Forced Induction.

If you are naturally aspirated there is "NO" reason to go to the 2 BAR MAP sensor and delete your MAF!

Your MAF is what tunes your Vette (Mass Air Flow sensor) as you drive, and a MAP (Manifold Absoloute Pressure sensor) reads in conjunction with it, we have on the stock Vettes a 1 BAR MAP sensor at the back of the manifold that works along with the MAF.

When a person goes to forced induction the MAF can run out of table thus you can delete the MAF and go to a 2 BAR or 3 BAR MAP(only certain years for a 3 BAR) sensor.

When you do remove the MAF, as in Forced Induction, it does send a code and this will not allow you to pass smog with it removed. So you would need to re-install it for smog purposes and then re-download you FI tune! (It's actually simple)

All I do is remove 2 clamps and stick my MAF back in and plug in the wire and go inside with the HP Tuners and download the "SMOG" tune with the MAF! Remember for smog purposes you never get into B@@ST when getting your Vette smogged

I hope this helps some

Thanks,Matt

Yeah, well the Vette is NA. I just keep getting random codes like, P1111, P0101, P1133 and P0134. I figured that doing the MAF deletion may help with this somehow.

I would keep the MAF and try to determine the root cause of the codes. Some mods just require you to set the code for "no report". For example, 02 sensors usually need some codes to be deleted.
