Get the 243 heads! Not much more money and they have a lot more potential.

they have just been freshened up with 300 miles on them not sure on the mill. would you save the money and put towards the 243s. on a car with same cam and all the same mods how much more power can be made with 243s over the 5.3s.

I had $1300 in ported 243's with springs, then I sold my stock 243's for $500 so $700 out of pocket. I gained 32rwhp and about 20lb/ft going from stock 243's to ported 243's. Mine were done by www.coupeperformance.com

If you're only looking for low 400's then TEA 5.3's will work great for you, I'd go for it.

I have stg 2 TEA 5.3l heads and love them. Would not trade for 243s ever.

$800 is a very good price if they are that fresh.

No desire to lose power and compression.

Honestly, I don't think I'd even do a straight-up swap for AFR's.

I don't need a huge exhaust runner, and that is about the only advantage a 243 could offer from what I have now. I'm still intake-limited.

I have the TEA 5.3 stage 2.5 heads and love them. They offer a lot of torque.
