Default Electric Cutouts

is there any advantage or disadvantage to them?

or are they mostly for sound purposes?

if installed would it require the car to be retuned? and power differences?

Thanks in advance

I have heard that they only give you around 6-9 rwhp gains...

Just depends on how restrictive your mufflers are, mostly for sound I would think. I have one on my GN and with it open it is slightly leaner and has 2#s more boost (and sounds great underneath an overpass & can scare small children)

The got me 3 tenths but I did also raise my rev limiter 200 rpm. Went from 12.2 to 11.9, I know the cutouts helped with that. Went a week later with some tires and ran a 11.50.

If you don't have a lot of mods I would pass as far as a power increase. If you are 500HP or over definatly do it.Car will run leaner so get your tune with cutouts open.I have a single turbo with a band clamp joining the down pipe to the stock exhaust. It blew the exhaust right off on the dyno. That was enough proof for me.
Good luck.

You will feel the car with a little more power at the top. The throttle response also increases. And yeah, they sound great.

thanks for the input so far guys

with these mods on my car would they be worth having them put on?

LG longtubes and X-pipe (no cats), ported heads from an 03' ZO6, small cam smal cam (not sure what size, sounded stock before the longtubes and x-pipe), blackwing intake, DTE stage 4 diff. 3:90 gearing, McCloud twin disc clutch

the car made 405rwhp and 385rwtq

also im thinking of putting a fast 90 intake manifold and a 90mm throttle body in also and yella terra rocker arms, havent decided yet

so would it be worth it either way if I dont add the new parts and if I do?

Thanks
Doug

If you have big cubes, or want the car to be able to convert from loud to quiet then intall them. I have the DMH cutouts on my car and the main reason was so I can be loud when I want it to be, and still be able to quiet the car down in the neighborhood late at night. As for HP, I only picked up 5 rwhp over my stock Z06 Ti mufflers on my 383 stroker.

I run a 427 w/ LS6 heads, Kooks 1-7/8 stepped to 2" headers and a stock TI catback w/ twin 3" QTP cutouts.
CLOSED I MAKE 469 RWHP / 451RWTQ
OPEN I MAKE 507RWHP / 480RWTQ

Huge gain for the money and the ability to go from sleeper to prostock or anywhere in between F N rocks

Pull into a parking lot fully closed and setup a race, watch the other guy $hit when you go full open just before your burnout.

if the car leans out when you open them if it isnt tuned for them.

what happens when its tuned for them to be open when you close them?

Does anyone make a wide open switch for cutouts so that if you cross 3000rpm the cutouts open up???

Oh no, the move from 12.2 to 11.9 were with the cutouts and 200 more rpm. Then this past weekend I had some mt et streets and got another 4 tenths

I looked but could not find this? I did see the controller for the C6 exhaust systems but not for aftermarket cutouts..........anyone know anymore about this? I have DMH cutouts and need a controller for them.
