I was driving home this afternoon in my MN6 '01 coupe. I'm on the highway and I notice my steering no longer feels power assisted. I got off the freeway, pulled over in a parking lot, and took a look under the hood. The belts are intact, but there's power fluid everywhere! What a mess. :mad
So, I called the dealer, who put in touch with a tow service, and the tow truck is on its way to get it. Any thoughts? Are failures of the steering hoses common? I haven't seen that one mentioned on the Forum, but maybe I wasn't paying attention.
Re: quick thoughts? power steering fluid everywhere! (Buckmaster)
I've done a search on the forum for power steering problems and there is nothing about faulty hoses, though there have been a few cases of faulty pumps being replaced under warranty without difficulty.

Thanks guys for the thoughts. She's at the dealer, with an SUV loaner for now. They claim they'll even clean the power steering fluid from the engine bay, which I'll believe when I see it. In the meantime, here's some pics to commemorate the event. :nopity

At 1500mi. my 2001 vert started dripping power steering fluid
on the garage floor. Drove it to the dealer and they ended up
replacing the rack and pinion. Out of comission 2 days.

My power steering started leaking at about 13k miles. Replaced the pump. The dealer gave me my car back with ps fluid all over the front end and fenders. :mad
