Hello Matt, tell Jon and Jason hello.

And you never did post those rules for that stock bottom end class you keep talking about. I know of a stock bottom end that's running 8.60's but without the rules for the class your running in we can't tell if we're in the same class.

And Matt no one cares how many parts in a day you sell, REALLY.

apparently you havent had their snack wraps have you?

To the OP, youll think that cam your getting is all fine and dandy, adn im sure youll be able to live with it on the street, possibly run some ok times but thats only cause you havent had better. why dont you ask around the pits and see how many of the faster guys are running off the shelf cams . . . i guess they want to win right?

No one seems to have given consideration to the fact a small extremely efficient port moving a good deal of air will be alot more forgiving of the slightly larger cam (due to the much higher velocity charge) others are potentially advising against. This isnt my first rodeo and Im quite sure with the ported 205's Holley's total package may be more surprising than a few of you think....meaning I think when the smoke clears it will be a nice looking overall curve.

Sure it wont make huge torque on the bottom (a big cam never does), but it may surprise you and still make big midrange and top end grunt as well. Is it exactly what I would have spec'ed myself....probably not, but it's paid for, installed, and close enough IMO to get the job done.

Bolt that baby together and hit the chassis dyno.....I for one am looking forward to the results.

-Tony

THANK YOU TONY...

I am looking forward to putting down some good numbers... way to many TSP haters and AFR 205 Haters out here. I am sure the combo will run good... even with a highway 3.36 gear.

Besides I asked Tony, the TSP reps and my installer they all agreed the 236/240 cam would be better than the Torquer V3 cam. It may not be perfect, but it should work.

Remember my car is 3150lbs and I upgraded to a 3500 stall... like Tony said I am running AFR 205 heads... Not HUGE LS7 or L92 Heads.

If I can drive it to the track and run low 11s...maybe a high 10.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED !!

NOT TRYING TO BE THE FASTEST CAR IN THE LAND... just want a LEGIT street Car... thats different.

My car is Bone stock inside and outside.... (shifter, gauges, seats etc) If I moved the coil packs you would think its a SBC.

I am sure you would never think a '77 vette would SPANK THAT *** on the street.

Believe me... even with my old setup... I had several... several great kills on the street and the track.

Until I blew the motor in the garage.

This is the phrase that is gonna make that cam not right for you, close yes but if you can have better then why not? Yes your car is going to be fast, is it gonna run low 11's I dont see why it wouldnt, I would be very disapointed if it didnt.

I'm not going to argue with Tony hes prob forgotten more than i will ever know, but i do think that the heads are to small for the displacement your running. I think there is alot left in the combo with upgraded heads and a properly spec'd cam. You said everything is paid for and already assembled so its a little late now. Run what you have but you will always have the thought in the back of your head . . . damn, what if?. . . . I still do about cars that i dont even own anymore.

As far as TSP and AFR haters go, all i can say is people have reasons for everything.

Good luck and i cant wait to see the results!

LEGIT MEANING I CAN DRIVE TO THE TRACK... not use race gas and SPANK alot of trailered cars.... and 90% of street cars.

NOT LEGIT STREET CAR as I drive it everyday... I have a FRC for that.

I had well over 50 races over a 2 year period (most with video) on my old setup with 224 cam and used (58K mile) 346 with RPM intake and 3000 stall. Never had a problem, in fact I had only been beaten 7 times.

what you call a street car and I call a street car...
I am sure is different.

Why cant people give TSP 418, 236/240 cam, Vic Jr Intake, 3500 stall, Holley Carb and AFR 205s a chance before you call FOUL ???

maybe your scared I may beat you also??

***** your class always shows through. We'll continue to work hard to provide the best possible products for our customers while you continue to push your best friends camshafts. I guess you guys fit together well, Bret sells camshafts out of his dads metal business while you do work out of your shop behind your house.

It's easy to come up with one or two graphs, the advantage to a tsp combo is you see independent results all the time. You know what your getting with TSP products, your getting products developed by a well known company that engine dyno, chassis dyno, and track tests the combos. If more than 3 people owned these camshafts you always discuss maybe we could better discuss these combos....

We ship combos that work for for do it yourself installers. For example I have a 480rwhp heads cam car in your area! The car has all standard TSP/PRC parts with a completely stock shortblock.

Asl far as the stock bottom end rules, the car is simply a n/a stock bottom end heads cam ls1 car.

Thanks

Jason

I think you mis-interpited what i meant, I'm not a fan of running race gas on the street regular is already to pricy. I meant still be able to have fun on the street and enjoy driving it on the street. Thats where its gonna see most of its time anyways right? Yeah i know your gonna take it to the track frequently but in all honesty the track is only a 1/4 mile long. A properly spec'd cam will do wonders on the street and still be fast as hell at the track.

I really dont car how many races youve had on the street, I can kill 50 hondas in one night.

No one is ******* your combo they are just simply saying its not perfect thats all, no need to get defensive when you get advice you asked for.

Now get that thing together and prove everyone wrong!

Oh and no chance your not close enough to the single digits

Jason, you NEED to get a clue and realize the size of a shop doesn't make a ****'s worth of difference. There are a number of buildings behind a guys house that put out motors, heads, cars that flat out run EVERYONE in REAL racing classes all over the country. These are they guys that set records and win NHRA, NMCA, NMRA, FFW.... etc Some of those guys have last names like Booze, Urathcko, Meaux etc.... the reason you why they run and you know what those last names are, is because they are the guys doing the work! That is the heart of quality race work in this country, but until you get past paying big bribe money fees to internet sites you'll never learn that.

Funniest thing is looking at your shop from the air and street view in Google Maps our little "metal business" that has been doing CNC work & Precision Machining since you kids were zygotes is about double the size of your 5000 sq ft shop.

Even better is we actually know how to measure down to .0001", even runout on a VJ and guide clearance here... looking at the work you guys put on the UPS truck shows me you have no idea what that is.

Actually that is the problem... the customers DON'T know. Maybe it's going to be some 480rwhp wonder or maybe it's going to be 393rwhp with a "Magic Stick" and PRC heads, which was lower than what stock heads did.

Which one is the customer getting 480rwhp or 393rwhp? The average is usually on the low side of that.

I still want to hear these stock bottom end class rules? Did they post them all up someplace? Maybe it was on L$1toke and I missed it?

Jason, I had no idea this guy had a TSP set up when I started answering his questions. He ask about a cam going in a set up that no one seemed to want to help him with or really knows anything about. Just as it's apparent you don't know much about it eight.

And could you explain whats wrong with having a shop behind your house? Does it take a huge Fancy state of the art shop to do quality work? It's not the size or looks of the shop that determines the quality of work that's done there. I should take a few pics of the guy's shop that does my machine work. He has the world records hanging on his wooden walls. He built engines for the King of Jordan, Prince of Dubai(sp), Don Johnson, ect. You name most any high profile person that's had a fast boat and he has probably done work for them. He has also done research work for GM and Mercury Marine, from a little shop in his back yard. He also has an engine straight from Jeff Gordons car in his shop (in his back yard), that will be going in his grand sons round track car here very soon.

Have a good day today Jason in you high over head shop.

O yeah Jason here's something for you to think about.

HOndas... No. I will leave those for you.

I don't do imports. (GTR I will) or Maybe a 500 rwhp supra with no traction.

I asked for advise, YES ...(even called comp cams several times with no response) took to long to get any other opinions so I stuck with TSP advise, Tony Mamo, and Dale @ Bowtie Auto

Besides ***** sent me a pm with his price and promise to have the best camshaft. (and a cool picture of a wheelstand)

That wasn't advise? That was him trying to make a sale. Not saying his cam wouldn't be better or run better... probably would. But I don't know him and did get any referrals like I did for TONY MAMO and TSP when I started this process over a month ago.

Do you expect the professionals to spend their time to spec you a cam for your exact setup for free? Some people make a living doing this stuff, sure its easy for any volume shop to say one of their off the shelf cams will work good. Sounds to me like you wanted the info that every else has to pay for to have top notch matched setups for free.

Like I said buddy I only posted that pick to show you we have done the very thing you'er trying to do. I only started out answering your question. Then in PM I told you we don't give out free cam specs and told you what the cams cost. Which seems to have ****'ed you off, O well.

Again, good luck with the car.

Brother I asked for advise. I did not realize I was speaking to a guru. (willyz)

It doesn't say sponser or cams for sale in his signature?

If I posted how to change my headlight OR what headlight should I use as a replacement? OR what headlight do you use? etc... what cam spec you recommend or what cam specs do you run ... etc

you get my point?

That's what these forums are for... to share information about something we all like and enjoy.

I didn't know ***** until this thread.
