Hi,
ATI Included the SuperChips Micro Tuner 2001 with their SC Package for C5.
Some one there used it before? if so how is it? how easy to use? any detail list of what I can adjust with it?
Would like to know about all benefit's with it, and what I should stay away from.
I contacted Superchips about their microtuner. They said that I would need 2 of them (one for N/A and one for N2O). At 425 bucks a piece + 125 for programming+ Shipping its not a good investment. The way Superchips made it sound, they have to program it for you.

Buckmaster,
This is interesting, you didn't borrow it from some one?
I heard that they have to be pre-programmed just for your car (They used my Vin Number for this).
Anyway just a thought....
To bad it did not work out for you
I hope it do in my car...well it MUST work, since it's part of the ATI Package...
Thanks Guys,
I'm not so good at this, but I let Ernie give it a try with the Superchips, this one should be "pre Loaded" with some setup for my car with the ATI Package.
I have a 2000, do not know if this change anything but I hope I'm lucky.
The plans is to get my car back next weekend after the clutch change.
Ernie has a partner on the FL westcoast who do the clutch work, so the car will be trailed there next week.
If I want I can get my car back in Orlando next weekend at the NCRS show or Ernie can trail it back the monday after.
If get the car aligned first, I will pick it up in Orlando my self.
Vstella I get back to you when I get my car back from Ernie.
I have a 2000, do not know if this change anything but I hope I'm lucky.
You might talk to Evil Deed. He was pretty happy with SuperChips tuning on his 2000. I wouldn't worry about it too much since it's part of the "package deal." :D
Buckmaster,
Please do not worry, that was never the way I took it either:)
I trust them, but incase somthing should happend, I would know what other had experinced and that is what this forum is about, share your experience both good and bad :)
I'm happy with Superchips. I've used them 3 times so far. I'll be using them for my SC in the future too.
Again, dyno tuning with a Wideband is necessary to get the program right. You fax the data back to Superchips and they tweak the program 'til it's perfect. I don't expect the 1st program to be right. 2nd should be close, but may take 3 programs to get right. Esp. for a supercharger.
I'm a Superchips dealer and have been told that the 99 and 2000 models are on hold. Some sort of a glitch. I had to cancel an order just last week and order the customer a Powerloader. On the other hand, I just sold a 2001 model within 2 days of the other one. He just E Mailed me yesterday and just LOVES it! I think the 2001 issues have been resolved. I personally prefer the Powerloader but they are $100 more and take longer.
IT IS MY ADVICE (WHICH YOU DIDNT ASK FOR) THAT ALL OF YOU CAREFULLY CONSIDER YOUR CHOICE FOR SUPERCHIPS. THEY COMPELTELY SCREWED ME!
I bought a 2001 Superchips programmer at a high cost. Then paid extra for custom programming. They told me that they could reprogram for any 99-2001 C5 for $150.
I then needed some changes and was told the programming had "issues" and that they couldnt help me and that I should just wait for some other time!
I then considered selling my heads and cam and asked superchips if the programming could be moved. I was told yes, simply pay the reprogrammign fee (about 150) and they woudl change the program and VIN.
On that basis, I sold my heads and cam to a guy with 2001 C5. Superchips said no problem.. just wait a few weeks for the programming.
I waited and waited... then was told that the 2001 programmer will NOT work with 2001 cars!
I was told that I would have to pay $250 to upgrade programmer plus $150 for upgrade.... but only for the SAME VIN.
Now they want full retail for a new programmer, plus custom programming, etc.. for a total WAY OVER $500..
LET THE BUYER BEWARE, THESE GUYS DO NOT KEEP THEIR WORD, WILL LIE TO YOU, AND YOU WILL BE SORRY! THE COST ME HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS WITH THEIR LIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, Tom, That sucks. My experience was much different. I've also got management contacts at Superchips if anyone is interested. I was thrilled with the programmer and paid more for it than the Powerloader. My Powerloader was available after an eight month wait, but I chose the Superchips based on what I read and what I believed. Here's my dyno runs with the Micro Tuner. I gained significant HP and torque down low where I wanted it. If I had done the Superchips after the stock run, I believe that the delta would have been even more dramatic. C5's tend to pull harder on subsequent runs.
The main reason I bought the tuner was to address my gear swap. The performance gains were just a perk.
I will be getting a custom program from Superchips next month with my Stage II Katech Head and Cam package from Xtreme Motorsports. I have no reservations at this point. Remember, Superchips is the oldest and largest programmer in the world.
We also are a dealer for SuperChips and we have had nothing but great experiences with their programmer. We use SuperChips on all our head/cam and motor swaps, Katech recommended them!. So far, so good!
Jim- Do I need to call the "BOSS" for permission
on the head and cam pkg??? ;)
oops...
I attempted to use the Superchips Tuner for my H/C 2000. The first time it came, it did help a little on the power, but the rev limiter and shift point kicked in at 5800 which is lower than stock and I asked for and paid the $150 to have it raised to 6500 when ordered. I also noticed that the speedo was way off and called to see what gear ratio ratio was programmed. It was set for a 3.42 not my stock 3.15. The program was "copied" from another BPP customer that had a H/C and gear job but not even the same one as mine, even though I sent the head and cam specs. when ordering. I sent it back and when I received it again, the whole dash was inoperable. Well if I tell you the details of the FIVE times I had to get RMA's and send it back to correct something the post would be too long and boring. One time it set the idle at 950. One time the car would not start and was down for 5 days while they reprogrammed. One time it.......you get the point. I will say on the last try and albeit may have been a coincidence, I programmed, did idle re-learn, drove 3.5 miles and the oil pressure dropped to 0 and since I was only 1-2 miles from my preferred Chevy dealer, I drove straight there and it was running really rough when I pulled up. My mechanic who did the mods is the C5 tech at this dealer he said the oil pump seized and he thru a new one on and had me bring it to him to pull the heads and cam and ALL the other mods, as he was concerned that it would be a problem if a manager saw him trying to warranty a H/C car, it was still running bad when I did. I drove it back to the dealer and because the bearings and rings were so cooked and still not generating oil pressure it died just as I was pulling in...literally rolling into the service writers bay and wasted a perfect LS1. I did drive out with a brand new crate motor 8 days later. I still have the programmer...at least till the next time I go out for target parctice. I am also ready to do the ATI S/C on my 2002 and asked Ernie if I could get a credit on the package as I already have the "hardware" for programming and the answer was no, it is sold as a complete kit. I will be posting a pic. of the Micro Tuner 2001 with a .45 hole right thru the middle of it very soon, since I have to buy ANOTHER one anyway. I still can't knock Superchips as a company as they turned my Ford Superduty truck with the PowerStroke Diesel into a monster adding 97 hp with just a chip for $400. I spent 8K+ trying to gain that much HP on the C5 and only got close. Live and learn.
Don't believe all the marketing. Mine only had the option to adjust the fan.
No tire adjustments and no gear adjustments!!! The answer was that options are not available on all years!! WTF
It also blew out my computer but I've hear this can happen. I would have been ok with all this but they skewed me out of the overnight charges to get the issue fixed. The hole issue cost me $200 in shipping and towing fees.
Andy from A&A was great with the return once it arrived a month after they sent my PCM back to me.
Like Andy A&A said, still no MicroTuner for the '99-'00, but soon...
I paid $550 for my first program and had to ship them my PCM. I've done 3 programs now. When the 2000 MicroTuner finally becomes available they are wanting to charge me ANOTHER $550 to get the Microtuner.
Their programs are good, but they like to screw you on money & don't care if the customer is happy.
