Default Charge System Fault

Ok guys, here is the latest issue I have on my 01 coupe.
Perhaps the freezing temps that we have currentlt where I live are part of the problem (average 34° F).
The last time I took the car, drove it for a few miles and stopped the engine I had this message on the DIC when turning the ignition ON (together with a rather weak gauge lighting). The engine cranked OK and the charge appeared good (13 V).
I don't know what the problem can be as my battery is one year old.
Thank's for your feedback on this issue guys.
Greg

Check the Battery and starter connections (both ends of each). That is most likely the culprit.

13v from the gauge would indicate a low charging condition and not usually normal after just using the battery to start the engine. If this was measured with a voltmeter also low. Check connections as recommended already and verify grounds are secure.

I have been getting this for 5 years on my Z. The message shows up for a short period right after start up and then goes away. I may see it once every 30 or 40 starts. Nothing wrong with the car.
