Current radio unlock code?

Sorry for activating the old thread but id say it is still applicable. Just bought a 99 c5 and id like to pull the battery to look for acid damage and also clean the passenger side udder.
ive tried calling the toll free number for my stereo code but it rings as if it is off the hook.
is this perhaps because i am from canada and the toll free number doesnt work from my area code? or. is it because this system is no lo ger active on a telephone based system.
what are people doing to reactivate the radio after swapping the battery.
