Default Corvette Dilema

I currently own an 01 Audi TT Quattro with an GT35r putting down 511hp / 320 tq and the best i have gotten out of it to date is an 11.3 1/4. The problem is it has alot of power... but all that power is in the upper rpms and is only for a short period of time. The launch is what is killing me the 4 cylinder engine just doesnt have the torque to pull it out of the whole any faster then 1.9 60ft times. I have been debating on this for a while and im not the only one having these issues. The solution to the problem would be to source an VW Diesel 1.9 block and bore it to 2.2L to upgrade from my current 1781cc block but it is pricey in the range of 4k-4.5k due to the lack of parts for that upgrade. the ones that have biten the bullet adn gone to 2.2L have taken that same turbo setup and went from mid 11's to high 9's, low 10's only putting out maybe 50 more hp from the bigger displacement. but there torque down low is way up.

My thing is i have spent alot of money and time getting the car to where it is now and im just not happy with it cause the huge turbo makes it incredibly slow around town due to turbo lag unless i run around town taching her out. I have some guys on the forums that are interested in buyign it off me.. ya i would take a sliight loss i know that already. What im wandering is what kind of money am i looking at if i invest in an high mileage vette that i have seen in my local area and rebuild the engine for force induction.. I have seen about an dozen C5's in the 10-12k range with over 100K miles on the clock. Most of them were automatic 4's but i think i would want an automatic this time over a clutch anyways cause driving an big horsepower clutch in my opinion gets pricey.

What kind of money would i been looking at for a rebuild over to forged internals or turbo capable?? im looking for 500-600 range hp wise

PS> please dont assume i know anything about GM/Chevy engines i have driven german cars all my life and this would be my first time ever without one.. so all this is new land for me.

Get a Z06, you'll have 4-500+ hp out of the box, twin turbos will get you 600-700 without a sweat. You'll miss the all wheel drive though.

Just curious, how much do you have to invest in that little Audi to get it to 511 RWHP?

Last twin turbo 911 I drove was a DOG off the line, once you got it spooled up it was almost OK. No replacement for displacement, 8 cylinders-no waiting.

Making 500 RWHP is not that hard with a corvette engine LS1 (standard vette) or LS6 (Z06).
Cam/Heads/Intake cars are making that - not forced induction.

Check out the 1/4 mile sticky in the performance section and you'll see some pretty good times.
