I'm frusterated :mad . I have the 100 shot n20 jet and a 150 fuel jet in and I still ping at the lower RPM's. Any suggestions. The pinging isnt bad, but pinging is pinging. I added octane booster, changed the plugs (copper) and wires (MSD 8.5). I don't know what else to do.. Any suggestions.
Try another step colder plug, run a decarbonization routine prior to swapping plugs to assure deposits aren't glowing in the chamber and causing knock.
Cure the detonation prior to really hitting the motor with juice.
If you know someone with a laptop with diagnostic software, make sure the motor isn't running lean. Be sure there is no unmetered air in the intake path. Regardless of the octane rating lean is lean and won't go away with the highest rated gas you can find. Lean and Nitrous can equal cooked pistons... even worse, runaway detonation.
Good to meet you last night and I enjoyed speaking with you today! If its any help, we can run AutoTap on your car if you ever make it by our shop. Let us know if we can be of service!
Get an ATAP file and email or post the results. You should not be getting that ping from the nitrous with running as rich as you will be on the 100 n20 jet and 150 fuel jet, you should be pig rich and probably getting some fuel popping out your exhaust.
With a 01 you should not have any carbon buildup. Get an atap file so we can narrow things down.
Also what octane gas are you using??Might want to try a lower thermo. Make sure the plugs are gapped around .040.
Was the ping ONLY at part throttle?
how low RPM? if you're trying to turn on the nitrous in very low RPM under heavy load, you WILL ping, no matter what. this is why it is wise to get an RPM window sw. it will keep your nitrous engagement out of the cellar. you doent want to turn it on lower than 3k rpm.

Is a point, but his sig sais he has a MSD window switch.
Nitrous and detonation...as we all know, that's a VERY bad combo
I'm with the others...you need to install some new TR-6's and do some testing with an Atap asap. It'd be real nice to see the KR at work, letting you know how bad it's pinging. I'd recommend a fuel filter change as well. You might have a fuel delivery shortage while spraying.
Can you be anymore specific about the symptoms of this problem? I noticed you have a window switch so spraying under 3k is not an issue.
I have copper Autolite plugs gapped at .040 w/ MSD 8.5 Wires. Low RPM is around 3500k. The strange thing is that when the ping begins, I let off then reapply the gas, the ping goes away. Maybe the computer is pulling timing when it senses some ping. Nate I may take you up on the Atap. Let you know how things go at the dyno on monday.

I had ba experience with the AUTOLITES 104!!!!!
When I put in the 150 shot .....bad pinging... my engine blow out oil out of the dip stick!!!!
I called NX and they said try NGK T6 as they hade also problems with the AUTOLITES 104 i the past.
I did it (gapped to .35) and run them for 2 seasons now, without problem.
Only good times:D
Change to NGK TR 6 and you may get rid of the detonations!!!!!
