what about manufacturing process, materials used, and long term reliability...

that comes at a price...

i know initial bite on those pads on a panic situation WILL be noticed...

they just won't perform as good, i think...

for everyday driving they are extremely reliable. they would probably fade rather fast during a hpde but that is not what they are made for. They are made for daily normal driving. I am not saying the cheapos are as good as the expensive ones. I am saying there is nothing wrong with putting them on a daily driven car where you would not ever see the benefit of the expensive pads. Believe it or not some people do not drive their vette or other cars hard at all. They have no need to spend more money on better pads. The cheap ones will work the same for them and their application. The cheapo pads will also most likely outlast the expensive pads while not chewing up the rotors at the same time.

I have Green Stuff's on my C5 for everyday work, and use the Hawk HP+'s for track duty. Here in MI the GS's squeal a little in colder weather (50 and below), but otherwise a great pad. I've used them for auto-X a few times too!

The 19.95/set semi-metallics are from China. They use lead for the metallic portion.

Sounds like some cheap junk to me. They're probably barely adequate for your Ford Focus, but they certainly don't belong on any Corvette.

I would look for a quality pad. carbotech performance brakes.

From street use to the higher performance demands of track days, we'll help you achieve better brake modulation, torque and fade resistance. High-tech construction means better stopping power and a higher level of driver confidence every time you get behind the wheel.

Take your performance experience to the next level with Carbotech performance brakes. You'll really feel the difference.

We offer a number of solutions for both domestic and foreign vehicles including SUV's and trucks.

Equip the vehicle you love with track-savvy, rotor-friendly brakes.
When you want more performance from your street car, you need to consider Carbotech performance brakes. Our unique Ceramic and Metallic formulation provides positive, sure-footed stopping power.
And since Carbotech brake pads don’t use conventional carbon and iron construction, there’s less wear and tear on the rotors—which can save you big bucks down the road. Our line of performance brake pads are so durable, Carbotech has been selected as the Official Brake of the United States Endurance Racing Association.

Track Days
If you like to take your high-performance car out to the track for a “Track Day” event, Carbotech brakes will easily handle the additional stress of racing. In fact, more and more professional racers are specifying our brakes by name, because they’ve discovered the difference Carbotech makes on the track, where it counts.

Also, more and more tuners are selecting Carbotech brakes for their domestic street rockets, to make sure they have the positive stopping power and cornering control they require.

Carbotech brakes offer superior performance, are rotor-friendly, and last longer than any other performance brake pads on the market. That’s a combination that’s tough to beat.
