Default What bellhousing do I need?

Clutch exploded and bellhousing is gone. After replacing the clutch, which bellhousing would I need for a C5 Z06 with a LS2 motor? Part # if possible. Thanks.

You would use the C5 Bellhousing. I don't have a part number handy.

If you need a stock C5 Z06 bellhousing, I have one, new in the box.
They retail at the dealer for over $200.
I'd sell it for $150 shipped.
Let me know.

I have a $150 credit at my Chevy dealer and would like to use it, but thanks anyway. Can you tell me the part number?

Get a scattershield from RPM, it will save your feet and possibly your life.

If you are doing any racing, it is cheap insurance against injury or vehicular damage.
Even on a no-racing application, since the car is already apart, it is not a bad idea, however, I could understand the reluctance to install one if the car is to be kept stock, and if the clutch fragmentation was a freak occurence.

Dr Chill,
Keep in mind that a blowshield for our cars is about $450 or so, just in case you are considering it.

Does the scattershield replace the bellhousing with something more substantial, or is it in addition to the bellhousing?

It replaces the bellhousing with a heavy metal enclosure. You're were lucky that your car wasn't totaled from the clutch explosion.

Can you provide more info on what happened, as I am curious ?

Most clutch explosion take out the firewall and windshield are and cut a bunch of the wiring harnesses.

Running at the new Palm Beach Intl Raceway formerly Moroso I was experiencing slippage with my Cartek clutch shifting to 4th gear and I tried to be very gentle but when going down the back straight at about 100-110 mph I shifted to 4th around 6200 rpm and boom!!! Metal pieces all over the track, my shifter jumped about 3 inches, cluth pedal went to the floor. A metal bracket holding my oil catch can up front in my engine compartment snapped. I did feel the flying fragments hit the underside of the floor, but there was no entry into the passenger area.

Any idea where to get a scattershield at a decent price?

RPM sells them.
You will pay around or just over $400 for it.
If you plan to do more racing, definitely do it.
Well worth the money.

RPM sells them and I would recommend buying one from them. Are using an aluminum flywheel ??

You seem to have gotten off lucky as most cars a severely damaged by an incident like this one.

Just glad you came out unscathed.
