Default SUPERCHARGED 402 C.I.D. !!

My winter project has started. For anyone that does not think horsepower is addictive, please read on. For my winter project Performance Tech Center will be installing a 402 c.i.d. motor into my car. The engine has been built to run with a supercharger and has all of the goodies; Lunati crank, Oliver rods, CP forged pistons, Lunati cam, custom Smith Bros. restricted push rods, ported heads, ported throttle body, LS6 intake. Along with the engine they will be installing a Vortech “T” trim supercharger. My goal is to have 700+ RWHP when the project is complete. :D
The first time I drove my car from the dealer it seemed fast but then as I drove it the car seemed to lose power, so I decided on supercharging the engine. After the supercharger the car seemed incredibly fast but seemed to suffer from the same loss of power problem. Then I decided on the heads, cam and LS6 intake. Well, with 566 RWHP the car showed a distinct improvement with those mods but again the same problem, the power seemed to disappear as I drove the car. So now to satisfy my addiction it is back to the shop looking for another fix of HP.
I wonder if this is what happened in that urban legend when the guy strapped two rocket boosters to his car and they found him buried in the side of a mountain.:blueangel:
My God, I love HP :chevy

If anyone is interested I will be selling my current engine and supercharger as a package. I will be selling the engine with the ported heads, cam, LS6 intake, and the supercharger. If anyone is interested in bolt in 566 RWHP send me an email.

Tom

Thats a cool project. Hey...just wondering, what did your car run in the 1/4 mile with the 566 RWHP Supercharged engine? I mean it's a lot of power...but I'm just wondering if it runs good times too :smash:

O-Ace,
I have only had it at the strip once and that was at RT66 for the tuner shootout. I tried running on the Michelins and just could not hook it up. The bad news was that the car only ran a 12.4 but the good news was that it ran a 128mph trap speed. If it would have hooked up I would have expected low 11's or high 10's. I bought a set of MT slicks and skinnies from CCW and that should hook it up for next season.

TomC5, Sounds awesome. Good luck on the project.

BTW: You you have a dyno graph of your current set?

The first time I drove my car from the dealer it seemed fast but then as I drove it the car seemed to lose power, so I decided on supercharging the engine. After the supercharger the car seemed incredibly fast but seemed to suffer from the same loss of power problem. Then I decided on the heads, cam and LS6 intake. Hmm , wonder why this story sounds so familiar? :reddevil

I am already running 345's and it does not hook up on the street. The bottom line is that you will never hook up that kind of HP with street tires. I have ordered a set of MT slicks and skinnies from CCW for the strip.....and maybe one quick cruise through town.

Are you going to put that much of HP on the 4L60E ?
I don't think that the transmission would take that power. You better start thinking about a TH400.

Anyway, good luck with your project

Nice. Your sig pic is too big tho. It's ruining the thread.

Why restricted pushrods?? You need oil thru them, eh?

Hey Tom, I'm glad to hear that work is beginning on the new motor. I would ask for a ride, but it would probably make getting back in my car like going from a C5 to a Vega, well maybe a Camaro. Geoff and i were taking about your engine last week, I don't know who sounds more excited, you or Geoff.

Can't wait to see the end result.

I use a 21" monitor at 1600 x 1200 resolution and the sig picture looked great on mine. Sorry about the size. How does this one look, I can hardly see it on mine. You must be monitorly challenged :)
