Hey guys, I just installed "round one" of my planned mod package and I have a question. How much power will the stock fuel system handle? The car was tuned this past Saturday and it made 458 RWHP, but the injectors are maxxed by 6000 RPM. Obviously, I need to upgrade the injectors. But what about the fuel pump and lines? How much power will they support?
That is not the answer to the question that was asked! I also am curious how much HP can the stock fuel pump handle.
I am installing a Racetronix wiring harness and an MSD Boost-A-Pump today, but still want to know what the stock pump can handle.
I know that the stock fuel system is a little more forgiving for N/A cars than for FI. Most N/A guys I know upgraded their injectors around 425 RWHP, and pumps around 450ish. I talked with various tuners before installing my Vortech kit to inquire on the stock fuel systems limitations, and make sure I made the necessary upgrades to support my system.
I find it amusing that you are installing a BAP and a direct wire harness, and you do not even know what your current fuel system is capable of supporting. The only expert answers you will receive are from those tuners who do it everyday. Why not pick up the phone, instead of relying on a dozen different opinions on the forum. Call Andy at A&A, Chris at ECS, Doug at DRM, etc. Any one of these top shops can advise you based on your current setup, proposed mods, etc.
