Mark, I would get the 3 ABS, Traction, Active lights displayed when I first start the car. Read where it does a self test, were it test the solenoid valves, and the pump motor for 1.5 sec.
I am getting a code C1243 Which is a pump motor stalled. So Its either a bad connection on pin 8 or fluid leak or a bad ABS unit, or a bad BPMV unit.
Call Gene Culley, He might have your unit. He could not supply one for my 99, or Thepartslady
I think you have to replace both units. C1255 indicates an internal EBCM failure which is probably the kiss of death for the EBCM. C1214 is a failure that occurs inside the EBCM but it also affects the BPMV. If you read Step 3 in the diagnostic procedure above it tells the user to check the resistance of the pump motor circuits to ground. If that resistance isn't infinite Step 4 of the procedure tells the user to replace both the BPMV and EBCM. That is probably what the dealer tech did to tell you what parts had to be replaced. You can do that check yourself with a digital multimeter to double check what you were told. The part of the EBCM that fails when code C1214 shows up can be repaired. However, the part that fails and generates the C1255 code cannot be repaired. If C1255 was the only code present all you would have to do is replace the EBCM. C1248 will go away when you resolve the C1255 code. By the way is the red brake light lit on the I/P?

Bill,
Thanks for the added info on these fault codes. Sounds like I just need to replace both parts and be done with it. Have a good week.
