I need to replace the socket for the Turn Signal / DRL Bulb.
I went to my local Dealer today and the parts guy told me it was only $74.
I am about to replace the entire housings for the bulbs because I am replacing bulbs every time I gets the car wet. I have been told that the heat of the bulb melts the top of the plastic housing.
Anyway, I have fooled and fiddled with the socket to replace the bulb so many times on the right side that I am convinced that I have wiggled one of the wires loose.
The DRL/Turn signal/park lights socket is multi function and takes a dual filament bulb. Its important you get the right bulb holder although I'm sure Autozone would have one.
I'd give Bob at Fichtner Chevrolet a call. He'll beat that price for you and get the correct part #.
I'd say your diagnosis is spot on. Do I sense new clear corners on the way?
I got them two months ago but have been unable to install them myself. Because of my bad back, I can't crawl around under the car like I used to in the good old days.

I'm starting to understand that problem
I've played around with that socket a lot as I had to convert my lights to meet Brit standards.
Before you start splicing in new sockets it may be worth doing a continuity check with a multi meter. If the sockets still good it may risk more problems splicing in a new one. If you've had a few bulbs blow because of water ingress maybe a good clean up is all that's needed.
You can get at that socket easily if you pull the front fascia access panel.
