Another stuck window thread
Tonight I AUTO lowered the drivers window. It went down no problem. When I press the window up button it went up about an inch and stopped. There is clicking with repeated "up" button pressing but no further "up" movment. Press the "down" button the window goes down. I have beaten and banged door handles and door skins while pressing the window button to no avail. Not a good look for a car that dosen't have it's plates yet. Comments anyone?
I am going to skip the relay theory as my symptoms don't sound electrical.
What I would like to know is, Can the window motor be access when the interior panel is removed alone or is additional dismantling required. I can't tell from the photos I seen so far.

When the motor starts to get old theres a thermal cut out which trips. This causes intermittent operation - move stop, wait, move, stop ......... I plan to replace the motor on the Camaro to fix it.
On the Vette you need to take off the door panel, remove the water deflector, Remove the door speaker, remove the window. At that point you can get at the regulator

If any problems with clicking or jumping change it. Driver door is always the first to go.
The window seems to move a lot inward, like something is broken, and now it will not go up or down at all.... anymore
Lucky it is up.
I looked at threads in the search function- so don't beat on me....
here is my question- I have a $200 decuctible GMPP warranty-
and even though I am mechanically inclined, based on the above it sounds worth it to take to my dealer for the $200 and have them do it.
They are a pretty good dealer- I think they can handle this.
I am real short on time in the next few weeks, and if parts will cost
close to $200 I will take it in-
What parts do you think are broken/needed and what would you do ?

GM part installed, no problems again. Start Saturday morning, you'll be done by lunchtime, the door interior literally falls off. Easy to do.
ZCobra, your time sounds like its worth more than anything you might save. Parts are more expenisve than that... Remember, GM warranty is 200 ded. on the job. Anything else you can take it in and get checked out with the same deductible?

No wonder GM is losing money- $480 parts that forum vendors sell to us for under $300 and $240 in labor---
Also, I have GMPP and actually got them to pay me for the part and did the installation myself. I feel like we both came out ahead. GMPP did not have to pay the outrageous dealer labor cost, it did not cost me anything, and I did not have to leave the car at the dealer.
