I had an issue last spring when I thought my battery was bad. The car would not start at all. Normally it would "bump" but this time nothing. I started to hear a "click" undreneath the hood, I think. Since I was pretty confident that my battery was old, I removed it. I forgot, I tried jump starting it first. The clicking was still there even after I removed the battery. I was lucky enough to have an almost new battery at my disposal. Changing the battery eliminated the click, and the car started. To add to this I am not the guy who uses the battery tender. I start mine once a week in the winter instead.
Sounds like your battery went **** up. Drag it down to where you purchase you new battery and have it tested just to make sure that the battery is the real issue.
The clicking that your hearing is most likely relays that are trying to turn on and dont have enough power to work correctly. There are several relays under the passengers side of the dash and a bunch inside the BCM that your hearing.
Sounds like you need a new battery.
When you install the battery cables on the battery, clean the connections well and inspect for corssion. The cable connection bolts need to be tightened to "11 ft/lbs" to be properly connected to the battery.
I'm sure that this is not your problem, however...
My '01 had a noise coming from the passenger seat. It turns out it was the seat control stuck in the "on" position. It ran the battery down. I had a new seat switch installed and no more battery problems.
