Default Wiper and Lights Issues

First time reader of the forum and I think this a great site!! I recently bought a 1999 Coupe with 60K miles and have a couple of issues I was wondering if anyone else is having. I didn't notice when I inspected the car during purchase but the wipers were not fully docked onto the resting blocks. This morning it was raining on my way to work and discovered another piece to the puzzle. The wipers only work in the "High" mode and they're far from operating at high speed. Also when I turn them off, they stop immediately wherever they are will not return to docked position. My second issue are the dashboard and running lights. When I turn on the headlights the dashboard and running lights do not always come on. Sometimes I can toggle the switch from off to on a few times and they come on while other times it takes a few minutes of toggling to get them on. I know it'sj ust a matter of time before they no longer work.

If anyone can help, PLEASE DO!!

Update: the wiper problem was repaired with a new wiper motor from Advance Auto at a cost of $60 and a lifetime warranty on the part. Thanks to very detailed instructions posted by "Bville Bud" the job was straight forward and uneventful. Thanks to Bill Curlee for pointing me in the direction of a post by "Miker" I repaired my light problem by disassembling the multi-function switch and bending the contacts just as "Miker" had previously done. It should be noted "Jedi Cowboy" also deserves some credit for finding the multi-function switch removal instructions (linked in Miker's thread). The only steps I would've considered a problem in my adventure was the separation of the lower half of the plastic steering column cover from the rubber donut piece near the dash. Could've been because I was handling the pieces with kid's gloves for fear of breaking a 10-year old piece but it took me about 20 minutes longer than I think it should have. The only other brain teaser for this simple-minded, booger-hookin, Redneck was when the spring fell out after removing the first module from inside the switch. It took me a few minutes to figure out where it lived but after ops-checking all functions of the switch, I think I got it right.

I can't say enough about how great this forum is for the common knuckle-buster!!
