A4 trans
Can someone tell me the differences and what is the same about the transmissions in the C5 auto and the mid/late 90's Cadillac STS auto? The STS trans I believe is called the 4T80E and the C5 auto 4L80E. Am I nuts, misinformed or just crazy? I have owned both cars and still own a C5 and a Deville which seems to have the 4T80E as well. An e-mail would be great on top of a reply if you are willing. Note to the forum here. If I am not crazy and they are similar I can share what I know about the "T" trans and it is not bad at all. But if I am correct I can share what I learned in the Caddy and it might translate to our Vettes. Thanks and please be nice if I am stupid here.

your vette is a 4l60e, not an 80e. the 80e comes in the big HD trucks. your deville prolly has the 4t80e which the "t" stands for transverse. if i remember correctly... but no, both trans are not the same.

yep 4l60e on the c5. it is mounted in the rear rather than bolted to a bellhousing at the rear of the engine engine
