Default Head Gaskets

I just had a quick question for everyone. Im doing a pretty basic build right now with a ported ls6 intake, throttle body, and 243 heads. The car also has the vengeance vindicator cam with comp push rods and dual valve springs and tpis long tubes with borla stingers. Shooting for around 430 on motor and also got a wet shot on the car. 100 most of the time and every now and again a 150 shot. Cars gonna be tuned down at venegeance in ga once i get everything one and the car running.

So my main question is what head gasket? I have a set of felpros i bought at the local auto parts store for about 30 bucks for both. The moneys not the issue but should i just wait until monday and get the factory gm gaskets. Im not gonna spray the car all the time(had the kit on for about 3 months now and went thru about 1.5 bottles. so i dont abuse my stuff at all so whats everyones head gasket recomendations?

and thanks for all the help.

Dustin

I would not go thinner than stock gaskets with that cam unless you're notching the pistons.

Get the GM MLS.

I have read of a lot of guys ending up with leaking Fel Pro's. I would return those and go with the GM. The GM is an excellent and forgiving gasket compared to some aftermarket.

Make sure you measure the chamber width of your new heads and they may require a different gasket if they have been worked at all.

Stick with OEM MLS gaskets. As said above the Felpro gaskets have been known to leak a bit on certain applications.

Goodluck on your install.

Ight Gm gaskets it is. haha yeah ron the install is "coming" slower than i wanted but oh well it happens. Had a little issue that required me removing the heads so while they are off im gonna clean up the intak and exhaust ports. Nothing major just a little opening up of the runners.

Any idea of place to get the gm head gaskets for less than the dealership charges. I used to work for a gm dealership so ill find out monday if they can still give me a little discount but any ideas?

Thanks again everyone. Felpro's are being return as soon as i head back to work. haha

Add 3 coats of copper spray to the MLS head gaskets and set them in place when the 3rd coat gets tacky .

Set the heads in place and use ARP Head Studs and you should never ever have a problem leaking .

Head bolts are a no no when spraying the car .
