To tell you the truth, you could probably get to your HP goal for less cost with a S/C than going the normal aspiration mode.
With a S/C your car will retain normal stock driveability until you get into boost. When you go to sell the car you can take the S/C off and sell separately, and sell the car as stock or near stock. Highly modded cars are hard to sell and you don't get much for your mods, if anything.
You will need to change your clutch to handle the greater HP, so factor that into the equation. While you are at it put on a remote bleeder. Since your car is old put in a new master and slave.
Finally, with all you new found power you will need some bigger rims and tires.
BTW, if you go the H/C/I way you should consider upgrading the rod bolts to Katech. Cost is about $200. This is one of the known weaknesses in the older motors.
Thanks for the info guys. I do believe I will go with a blower. But which one? I know A&A is somewhat local so theres that. What about Maggies, who sells those? Are there places where you can get a used kit? I do like the idea of just taking off a blower to go back to stock lol.

^^I would go with a centri SC rather than a maggie. With a maggie you will have to buy a new hood which will increase costs. centri SC will fit under stock hood with no problems.
Look over in the C5 parts for parts for sale section for used SC. If I recall correctly, Andy (A&A) has an entry level SC kit for a pretty good price. Since your motor is stock you will need a restrictor plate to limit boost or your motor will be toast.
^^^ I agree...I would skip the maggie. You'll need a new hood and the maggie runs out of steam after you hit 550rwhp or so depending on your combo. A Centri S/C will give you much more room to grow.
You can't go wrong with ECS or A&A, Both great kits and customer service and both kits will get you enough power to get you in trouble.

Good luck!
Thanks - we can get you to a comfortable power level and then when/if you want to expand our kit is setup to go where you want to go. Call us at the shop and we can explain 609-752-0321.
...and yeah i live in california so i would need to be within smog standards unless I register it in my home state of colorado (Im in the Navy).
Now there's an idea.
If you have the option to register it outside of CA, you really should do it.
Then like others have said, H&C will get you to 450 rwhp pretty easily, but a S/C will make more power for the same money - especially if you have to pay someone else to do your install work.
im not to bad with tools, but if i get a blower (probobly a centrif) I would rather have that company install and tune so i know its done right. Mostly a piece of mind thing. but yes i do plan to register the car in colorado.
