Default Why no D-port headers?

Since C5 headers have left the price range of Hooker and Hedman and moved up to the exotic $800-$1600 range, why do none I've seen come with D-port flanges, which in my opinion should perform better since they would match the port? Is there a technical reason?

I've been told by two different header designers of C5 headers that port matching is not important and may, if fact, be counterproductive to max. exhaust gas scaveging.

I was told the same thing. Testing was done on d-port headers, and there were no gains...

If this is so, then why did Chevy build the heads with "D" ports??

Something does not make sense.

Its actually a good thing to have a little larger pipe at the connect point to the head port. With a d-port head you get that using a round pipe. This helps cacel out high energy reflection waves from going into the chamber.
