Oil Pressure Gauge
Has anybody ever had the problem where the Oil Pressure Gauge suddenly pegged @ 80psi & the Check engine light came on?

It happens very often on C5 corvettes. It's usually caused by a failed oil pressure sensor.
Read the sticky for oil pressure sensor relocation at the top of this page.

Yeah, as stated, the sticky at the top of this section. Almost all of us have had this problem or will have it at some point.

If you get a check engine light, check your codes. Typically, if the oil pressure sensor goes bad resulting in a 80 psi gauge/130 psi DIC indication, it will not set a code. See if you have a code P0523.

I too had the pegged gage, but no check engine light or warning. I went for the relocate and it hasn't caused a problem since. If it does, I'll be able to fix it next time

Arrrrrgggggghhhh. The oil pressure gremlin strikes again!!!
I just did mine yesterday at England Green and Jason and I almost grabbed a can of gas and a lighter on my 98! What a PITA. He's right though, almost all of us have gone thru it, or will....

That certainly would have posed a conflict of interest given your profession......
