Default Rubberized undercoating and heat?

I plan to take two stock tunnel plates, sandwich heat/noise barrier material in between them and spray the sandwich with rubberized undercoating. Once it dries well I will install.

I know that the fumes are flammable while drying and I plan do dry for about a week before installing the assembled piece. Will there be an issue with exhaust or drivetrain heat on the tunnel plate? Thanks

I'd skip the rubberized coating.

Is there anything I can spray on it to add heat and noise dissapation? What about truck bed liner or something similiar?

skip the rubbberized coating. Use the KoolMat products for insulation.

Plus coated Long tube headers do quite a bit to keep heat out of the cabin.

That might be an option. I am thinking of using the frost king insulation in between the two plates but will have to heat test that. Also might go with this

I am sure that stuff is off the hook but the prices are absolutely ridiculous. If I was going to pay that amount I would just buy a plate from a vendor. I am trying to be cheap here guys

Yeah, that's obvious....

Have you already used an insulation in the interior of the car (floor/tunnel)area? This would be more effective from a sound perspective, because the tunnel plate is open on both ends, so sound can still travel. For heat, you can just apply a high temp insulation on the top of the tunnel plate itself. I would not bother with the undercoating or two tunnel plates.

I will look into those options. I will have to do some testing. By the time I am done it will probably cost me more than just buying one, BUT then I would not get to play

Just pony up the $$ and get a real tunnel plate and some heat shield to it.

You could also buy some b-quiet on ebay for cheap and install that on the floor boards inside the car.

It makes a big difference. I use to run a maggie with headers and stingers and it was nice and quiet in the car with these mods.

Which means it will most likely turn to goo at high temps, especially above the cats. Hot asphalt would not be a pleasant smell in the car.....

Check THE EASTWOOD COMPANY website and see if they might have anything...I kind of doubt it, but if anyone has something like that, it's them.
I doubt you'll find any of it in bulk, but asbestos was well known for heat and sound insulation...at the expense of your lungs.
I wonder if LINE-X or similar bed coatings would have any benefit other than a thick coating for sound insulation.
JET HOT will coat just about anything. I've had suspension parts as well as exhaust parts done.

Yep. You just have to find an oven big enough to fit the tunnel plate in, and cure at 500 degrees.

you do know the tunnel plate will KEEP THE HEAT IN.

3" exhaust does a great job of getting the heat out.

Sounds wicked too
